Who Built America: Badges for History Education

Master History TeacherWe’re pleased to announce the imminent launch of a new online professional development program for middle and high school U.S. history teachers. Based on ASHP/CML’s proven professional development methods and social history content, Who Built America: Badges for History Education is an online professional learning community where teachers can earn digital badges as they practice and master the skills of effective history teaching, with a focus on designing materials to help students master Common Core literacy skills.

Created in collaboration with Electric Funstuff (developer of the Mission: US online game), Think Design, and Education Development Center/Center for Children and Technology (our longtime evaluation partners), Who Built America: Badges for History Education is funded through the 4th Digital Media and Learning Competition, held in collaboration with Mozilla, supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and  the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and administered by HASTAC (Humanities, Arts, Science, and Technology Advanced Collaboratory).

We expect the project to launch in fall of 2013. Please fill out the brief form below if you’re a grade 7-12 U.S. history teacher interested in participating. We’ll reach out to you as soon as we’re up and running.
