I wanted to thank all of our Picturing U.S. History moderators and fans who have offered helpful reflections on ways to use visual evidence in the history classroom, and the pitfalls to avoid.  Our next blog discussion is moderated by University of Pittsburgh art historian, Kirk Savage, and begins on Wednesday, April 1st.

Professor Savage will be leading a discussion on “Images of Slavery as Visual Evidence“.  The visual evidence on the institution of slavery is one of the more challenging teaching opportunities.  We appreciate you commenting on what methods and visual resources have transformed your student’s understanding of this contentious topic in U.S. history.
