LGBTQ+ History of the US - Eligibility

Please see the NEH Participant Eligibility Criteria for eligibility guidelines for NEH seminars and institutes for K-12 educators. [FILL IN HERE OTHER middle and high school education professionals]  are urged to apply. While middle and high school educators of social studies might find the Institute especially attractive, we encourage applicants from any field who are interested in LGBTQ+ history, life, and culture, regardless of your disciplinary interests. You need not have extensive prior knowledge of LGBTQ+ history or have previously taught the subject in your classroom. However, your application essay should identify concrete ways in which concentration on the topics will enhance your teaching and/or curriculum development. In addition, please describe a teaching project you would like to develop during the institute. The ideal institute participant will bring to the group a willing interest and understanding of the relevance of the topic to their teaching and curriculum development work.

First consideration is given to those who have not previously attended an NEH Seminar or Institute. When choices must be made between equally qualified candidates, preference is given to those who would enhance the diversity of the program.

To apply, read the Application Information and Instructions, and complete the full application providing all the information requested to be considered eligible.
